Hanoi (VNA)Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City has placed among the top 25 universities and research institutes in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in terms of scientific research articles (ISI) published in the world's leading prestigious journals.

Vietnam’s sole representative on the list ranked 23rd with 2,373 ISI articles published during 2016-2018.

The National University of Singapore topped the list with 24,074 articles, followed by the country’s Nanyang Technological University (20,049 articles) and the University of Malaysia (12,263 articles).

Malaysia ranked first in terms of the most number of universities on the list with 11 universities. Myanmar, the Philippines, Brunei, Laos, Cambodia did not have any representatives.

Recently, International University under the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) announced it had become the third Vietnamese university to meet university quality assessment at the institutional level under the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA).

Earlier, the University of Science under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-HN) and the University of Technology under the VNU-HCM gained AUN-QA accreditation.

The AUN-QA network is a group of chief quality officers appointed by the AUN’s member universities to harmonise educational standards and improve the quality of ASEAN universities.

The evaluation is based on 25 criteria and 111 norms, including some relatively new assessment areas for universities in Vietnam such as intellectual property, risk management and community services.-VNA
