HCM City (VNA) – The Director Certification Programme (DCP) was launched in Ho Chi Minh City on January 10, a key part of the Global Entrepreneur Programme designed by the Vietnam Institute of Directors (VIOD) in order to promote the best practices in corporate governance among domestic firms.

Specifically, DCP will improve skills of the boards of directors and their professionalism, raise awareness of their responsibilities.

At the same time, it will also improve decision-making, management and risk control process, thereby supporting initial public offering and maximising the sustainability of businesses.

Kyle Kelhofer, Country Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, said the DCP will enable Vietnamese enterprises to better manage risks, increase profitability and access loans.

Executive Director of Dragon Capital Dominic Scriven said during 25 years of investing in Vietnam, he found out that corporate governance in Vietnam remains limited. Therefore, the DCP will help improve personnel quality and seek qualified members for boards of directors.-VNA
