Floods kill six, submerge over 10,100 houses in Binh Dinh

As many as 10,149 houses have been inundated while seven homes were pulled down and nine other were severely damaged by the floods as of December 13 afternoon.
Up 52km of roads and 8.3km of river dykes have been eroded, four bridges collapsed while 18 other bridges and 78 culverts were destroyed.
The province’s agriculture sector suffered heavy losses as more than 9,100ha of rice and other crops have been submerged and over 130,500 poultry and almost 800 cattle heads were killed.
Earlier, heavy rains over the weekend caused flooding across the central region with eight people reported dead and two other missing as of December 11.
The downpours affected 23,126 houses and inundated nearly 7,000 hectares of crops and 278.2 hectares of aquaculture farming. Meanwhile, more than 64.6 kilometres of local roads and more than 2 kilometres of dykes sustained damage.
Thousands of students were excused from school to ensure their safety.-VNA
