Ha Giang (VNA) – An exhibition featuring Vietnam’s seas and islands and naval soldiers opened in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang on August 1.

On display are nearly 300 documents, photos, maps and warship mock-ups reflecting outstanding feats of arms of the Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN) and the progress of building a regular, elite and modern navy.

In addition, Ha Giang introduces at the exhibition many photos and documents highlighting the province’s activities to protect national border, sea and island sovereignty, its people’s sentiments towards people and soldiers on Truong Sa archipelago and other islands nationwide.

Trieu Thi Tinh, deputy director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the exhibition offers a chance for local Party Committee, authorities and people to understand more about the heroic tradition and feats of arms of the VPN in the past struggle for national liberation and the current nation building and safeguarding, thus helping educate patriotism among locals.

On this occasion, the VPN’s Political Department presented documents on Vietnam’s seas and islands as well as the navy to the Ha Giang province Museum in order to help serve the dissemination work.

The exhibition will remain open to visitors until August 3.-VNA
