Hà Nội — The Việt Trì-Ba Vì Bridge across the Hồng (Red) River and connecting Hà Nội’s Ba Vì District and Phú Thọ Province’s Việt Trì City is planned to begin trial operation at the end of this month.

Lê Minh Nghĩa, director of Phú Hà Company – the project investor – told online newspaper baotintuc.vn that “all parts of the project had been completed after two years of construction.

“The bridge will be ready for traffic on July 31,” Nghĩa said.

Toll fee collection is scheduled to start from October. A toll station will be located at Phú Cường Commune in Ba Vì District, with fees starting from VNĐ35,000 (US$1.5) per car for a period of 20 years. The Việt Trì-Ba Vì Bridge is a link between National Highway 32 and National Highway 32C with a total investment of VNĐ1.46 trillion (US$63.4 million).

The main bridge is 1.55 km long and the approaching roads have a combined length of 7.8km in Phú Sơn, Thái Hòa, Phú Đông, Vạn Thắng, Phú Cường communes of Ba Vì District and Thọ Sơn Ward of Việt Trì City.

The new bridge is expected to help facilitate traffic between Hà Nội and the midland province of Phú Thọ, thus boosting local economic development and tapping the potential for tourism and service of Phú Thọ Province. Phú Thọ Province has great potential in manufacturing, assembling industry, construction material production, hi-tech agriculture and forestry. — VNS
