Việt Nam triumphed at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Age Group Swimming Championships which wrapped up on Sunday in Laguna, the Philippines.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam triumphed at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Age Group Swimming Championships which wrapped up on Sunday in Laguna, the Philippines.

The team brought home 58 gold, 39 silver and 22 bronze medals to rank first, while Thailand came second with 21 gold, 22 silver and 18 bronze medals.

Notably, young swimmer Trần Hưng Nguyên shone in the regional event, grabbing 20 medals in the boys’ 14-15 age group, including 18 golds, one silver and one bronze, while breaking two tournament records.

In the women’s event, Trần Ngọc Thi snatched eight golds in the both team and individual events in the girls’ 14-15 category. Nguyễn Diệp Phương Trâm bagged five gold medals in the girls’ 16-18.

Nguyễn Huy Hoàng also performed outstandingly in the boys’ 16-18 division with six golds and broke three regional records in the 400m freestyle, 400m medley and 1,500m freestyle. — VNS
