HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam triumphed at the third Vĩnh Long International Table Tennis Tournament which finished on Sunday in the southern province of Vĩnh Long.

The team secured three gold medals in the men’s doubles, women’s doubles and men’s singles.

The Vietnamese national men’s and women’s teams, respectively, championed the men’s doubles and the women’s doubles, followed by Shanghai (China) who came second in both events.

Indonesia grabbed bronze in the men’s doubles while Hải Dương, a provincial team from Việt Nam, ranked third in the women’s doubles.

Nguyễn Trung Kiên of the Vietnamese national team took the trophy in the men’s singles event while Ni Zheqing from Shanghai (China) won the women’s singles.

The event brought together 138 players from China’s Shanghai, Indonesia, Thailand and the host Việt Nam.

The three-day tournament, organised by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and provincial Vĩnh Long Table Tennis Federation, was a warm-up for the upcoming Asian Games to be held in Indonesia in August. — VNS
