NGHỆ AN — Four people died after being electrocuted while installing telecommunications pylons in the central province of Nghệ An.

Trịnh Phương Trâm, director of the Nghệ An Electricity Company, said on Wednesday that the accident happened in the Hạ Sơn Commune of Quỳ Hợp District at 5.30pm on Tuesday.

A group of seven people was hired by Nghệ An-based Viettel Group to install pylons for telecommunications cables.

Preliminary findings showed that four workers were believed to have been electrocuted by a 35KV line after they violated safe distance rules while installing the pylons, Trâm said.

Locals tried to rescue the workers, but they did not survive.

All four of the victims were from Hạ Sơn Commune.

They were identified as 34-year-old local cadastral officer Trương Văn Tuấn and manual workers Bùi Văn Tý, Trương Văn Quân, and Trương Văn Toàn, aged 32 to 41.— VNS
