HCM CITY — The Muay Thai (Thai boxing) Fight Night is scheduled to take place at Riverside Palace in HCM City on June 22.

The competition will include three matches featuring professional fighters. Notably, all eyes will be on the match between Vietnamese fighter Nguyễn Trần Duy Nhất and Likit of Thailand.

Since 2010, Nhất, 29, has won seven times at the Amateur Muay Thai World Championships. He also won five gold medals at the Asian Muay Thai Competition, bagged the championship title three times at the Semi-professional Muay Thai World Championships, and gold medals at Muay Thai national competitions, among many other prizes.

Likit, 26, has had 27 wins and 10 losses. He is a rising talent in Thailand.

“Last year, I took part in the Muay Thai Fight Night also held in HCM City as a guest. I was deeply impressed by the event’s atmosphere and dramatic matches. So I decided to partake in this year’s event. I believe that the upcoming event will be very impressive and exciting,” said Nhất.

According to Giáp Trung Thang, general secretary of HCM City Muay Thai Association, the tournament aims to develop Muay Thai in Việt Nam. — VNS
