HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese cueists left for Belgium to compete in the World Cup Blankenberge 2018 yesterday.

Việt Nam have to first play in the qualifying round to qualify for the main round on June 15-17.

As scheduled, Võ Tấn Hội competed in the qualification yesterday.

Trương Quang Hào, Đỗ Nguyễn Trung Hậu, Nguyễn Đức Anh Chiến will compete on June 13.

The country’s leading players Trần Quyết Chiến, world No 10, Nguyễn Quốc Nguyện, world No 14, Mã Minh Cẩm, Ngô Đình Nại, world No 20, Mã Xuân Cường and Dương Anh Vũ play in the last qualification on June 14.

The qualification event is fully booked with 149 names and a few dozen hopefuls on the reserve list.

At the Three-Cushion Carom Billiards World Cup held in HCM City last month, Vietnamese cueists won three leading positions. Chiến made history as the first Vietnamese World Cup champion, while Nại and Nguyện were the runners-up.

The HCM City event winners will be driving force for Việt Nam’s efforts in Belgium. — VNS
