Hanoi (VNA) - Indonesian police announced on May 7 that they have arrested three suspects in Bogor district of West Java province, who had planned suicide bombing attacks against police.

National police spokesman Inspector General Setyo Wasisto said evidence showed that the men had arranged to make high explosive bombs at the location where they were arrested.

One of the three suspects had planned to blow himself up in the police headquarters in Bogor town in the outskirts of the country's capital, the spokesman said.

Another man had plotted to stab policemen in a traffic police station in the town, while the third was ready to attack the mobile-brigade police command there, Wasisto said, adding that they have been transferred to a mobile-brigade jail in Jakarta.

In raids, police seized explosive materials and devices for launching suicide bomb explosions, he added.

Indonesia has suffered deadly attacks by Islamic militants including bombings on the tourist island of Bali in 2002 that killed 202 people, mostly foreigners. Smaller strikes in recent years have targeted police and anti-terrorism forces.-VNA
