Jakarta (VNA) - Four people were confirmed dead after an Indonesian Air Force training aircraft crashed into a residential area in Malang , East Java , on February 11, announced Air Marshall Agus Supriatna, the country’s air force chief of staff.

The victims included two civilians, a pilot and a flight engineer.

The pilot and the engineer have been identified as Ifi Safatilah and Saiful, and were found inside the cockpit after the plane hit a house on Laksda Adisucipto Street in the city's Blimbing subdistrict.

Major Ifi died after being taken to a local hospital.

The two civilians were found among the ruins of the house hit by the plane.

The incident occurred at 10:45am (local time), 45 minutes after the aircraft took off for a test flight.-VNA
