Hanoi (VNA) - The Vietnam-Japan Book Copyright Festival 2018 co-organised by the two countries’ book publishing associations officially kicked off in Hanoi on May 24.

The 2nd edition of this kind, the event contributes to enhancing cooperation and cultural exchange between Vietnam and Japan, as well as promoting the sharing of experience in publishing and transactions in book copyright.

The festival is expected to help introduce Vietnam’s high-quality books to Japanese readers and vice versa, while pushing domestic publishers to better the enforcement of regulations related to book authors’ ownership in publishing activities.

Addressing the festival, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Hoang Vinh Bao highlighted the increasing cooperation between the two countries in recent years, saying that this lay a foundation for their collaboration in publishing.

He suggested the two sides’ publishing sectors boost cooperation and exchange, towards further fostering the multifaceted cooperation between the two nations.

Bao hoped the festival enables the two sides’ publishing houses to seek and set up partnerships.

Gathering 20 Japanese and 19 Vietnamese publishing houses, the event features activities to share experience of publishing and copyright in Vietnam and Japan.

The delegation of Japanese publishing houses will also visit Hanoi Book Street.-VNA
